More than a million cases of coronavirus have been registered globally, according to the latest figures from Johns Hopkins University - another grim milestone as the world grapples with the spreading pandemic. Nearly 53,000 people have died and more than 210,000 have recovered, according to the US university's figures.

The outbreak, which started in Wuhan, China in early December, has now spread to 181 countries and regions. China was relatively successful in containing their outbreak to Hubei province, where it originated.

India coronavirus count, which had crossed the 2,000 mark barely a day earlier, zoomed past 2,500 with Delhi (141), Maharashtra (88) and Tamil Nadu (75) adding big numbers.
