Human trial of indigenous vaccine COVAXIN begins

Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL), which developed India’s first potential indigenous coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine, has said the first phase of testing has begun on 375 people. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has given information about this by tweeting.

The Union Health Minister has said that the war against the corona virus is now in a decisive phase. He has said that for the last several months, positive messages have been received for the ongoing efforts for the development of the Corona vaccine. Dr. Harsh Vardhan has claimed that we will soon get a complete victory over this epidemic.

Bharat Biotech has said that human trials of Covaxin started on July 15. The Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company has jointly developed the vaccine with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Institute of Virology (NIV).

The DCGI has permitted two vaccines -- one developed by the Bharat Biotech International Limited in collaboration with the ICMR and another one by Zydas Cadila Healthcare Ltd to go in for phase I and II human clinical trials.
