Bhatnagar awards in science and technology considered as the epitome of recognition in the country have been declared for 2020.  The award is named after the founder Director of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), the late Dr (Sir) Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar and is known as the ‘Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (SSB) Prize for Science and also Technology.ThePrize is bestowed on a person that, in the opinion of CSIR, has made notably essential and also outstanding contributions to human knowledge and progress– fundamental and also applied– in the specific area of endeavour, which is his/her specialization.

Every year, scientists below 45 are chosen for the SSB Award for their contribution and fourteen young scientists representing various research & academic institutions of the country in seven different disciplines (Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Medical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Scienceshave been selected to receive Shanti SwarupBhatnagar(SSB) Awards for 2020.National research and academic institutions standing to their research reputation these fourteen scientists are from IITs, IACS, JNCAS, NCBS, BARC, NCl Pune, PGI, University of Hyderabad, Centre for DNA fingerprinting and diagnostics and Indian Statistical Institutes.
