Genetic engineering continues to reach disturbing heights in China. A team of scientists from china  have biologically engineer a beagle puppy, Long Long, the world’s first dog cloned from a genetically altered parent.

Long Long was cloned by Lai Liangxue and a team of researchers at Sino Gene and born in May. The beagle puppy is believed to be the first dog in human history to be cloned from a genetically modified parent.

They could customise a dog to make it have bigger muscles and better running ability before making copies of it, according to Lai Liangxue, the lead researcher.
Cloning Long Long cost the firm around $1.5 million, but they are hoping to bring the price down significantly so they can popularize it among the public.
