Human is known as a social animal and is always connected to society with some well defined moral/social values. No doubt the social or moral values are on constant decline and level of decay can simply be judged by a comparison between the traits of people all around just 2-3 decades before and today which can be easily assigned to the present age of mankind i.e. Kali Yuga (age of moral decay) as per mythology which seems to be true.

Society from time to time has faced many viruses and bacteria dominated as well as other contagious diseases like TB, leprosy before also but recent COVID-19 pandemic has brought the attributes so called civilized and modern man to limelight and force one to think seriously about the times to come. Without any medical treatment at the moment, controlling the spread of the Corona virus (COVID-19) infection in the public is limited to well proved age old methods viz. social distancing (do gaj ki doori), using mask, use of sanitization, no hand shake (only Namaste), improving immunity with old home made ayurvedic recipes and yoga. Though when it comes to follow these basic precautionary measures of safety from COVID-19, public is excited with any excuse not to follow these measures. When it comes to deal with people who are infected with COVID-19 or are working to implement these protective measures, most of the people lose control and moral values towards society. The COVID-19 pandemic has both exposed and created deep rifts in society. It has thrust us into deep ethical thinking to help justify the difficult decisions many will be called upon to make and to protect from decisions that lack ethical underpinnings. The decline in moral values is the reason for the increase in corruption, greed and lack of ethics in the society. During the COVID-19 time, human have lost moral values at many fronts and few of them are important to mention here.

At family level: Difficult to mention about the problems faced by people with home and institutional quarantines. Family members are not ready to cremate their near and dear ones dying due to COVID-19 in order to keep themselves safe from the virus.

At Social level: Thefts in the houses of people with institutional quarantines or in hospitals, snatching, ATM breaking, Vehicle lifting acts have increased during COVID-19. Problem of immigrant workers due the apathy they faced at the hands of their employers as well as government machinery is well known to everybody. We are only bothered for ourselves in order to be safe from virus but do not bother a bit for others safety and well being. People infected with COVID-19 virus are crying for help everywhere, dead bodies are lying on roads and in hospitals but people are not eager to help.

Health worker: Health care providers are facing increased risk of moral distress during the COVID-19 pandemic because of changes in clinical practice and resource allocation procedures. Health care systems that employ a proactive approach in mitigating the lasting effects of moral distress will fare better in the long run. Key interventions are detailed, including creating and promoting safety, calmness, connectedness, self-efficacy, and hope.

Dealing with Corona Warriors: Incidents of attack on corona warriors (medical staff as well as police personnel) when they visited different localities to test people or to make records of their travel history were too bad. Corona warriors faced problems in their residences and localities where they stay when they went back home from hospitals after performing duties with COVID-19 patients.

Working of law and order machinery:  Administrative machinery and police personnel have done a commendable job during the COVID-19 crisis.  Most of the times they have helped the society in fighting with COVID-19 but have also lost their cool at some times.  It will be better if these people are more sympathetic towards the victims and their attendants.
