Every year, March 8 marks International Women's Day, a day to celebrate the achievements of women and raise awareness about gender equality. On the occasion of International Women’s Day (08.03.2021) it is not only to mention about the women who have made successful careers in different fields in terms of as inspiring personalities but every woman in her own respect is always an inspiration for others w.r.t. to her family, village, state, nation and international level. Successful women will always be an inspiration for other women to expand their wings and dream to achieve great heights in their career. The list or examples of successful women are many but the women who are still suffering at the hands of society in any terms are many fold.
Men only consider women as objects of enjoyment and exploitation and it is an irony that every time they get exploited. We should come up in terms of our character as “Rama” instead of just becoming vocal about “Jai Shree Ram”. No doubt women have made tremendous progress in recent times in various challenging and primarily considered man work domains but still their acceptability, cooperation, equal opportunity, safety and respect are far away particularly in Indian context. We always recognize, appreciate and respect those women who become successful in their career but forget that every woman at her own level needs recognition, appreciation and respect if not by the society and administrative authorities, it should at least come from people very near to her social circle. We try to give due consideration to women of our families but when it comes to other women in society we feel least concerned.
We need to change our mind set so that women of any age, strata, level, caste, creed, religion, region who ever come in contact with us should be respected, recognized and appreciated. It is well said that a home is a home with a woman in it but we forget these ideals when we come to deal with women other than from our family. Sometimes even in families, women are facing disrespect and violence in the hands of her family members. Making education free to girls, opening many girls oriented educational institutes, giving them equal opportunity in selecting and making career of their choices and giving due representation in administration and leadership will only be just like a drop in the ocean. We need to make women friendly environments and policies at every level in order to take the women status towards the level they enjoy in developed countries like USA, Canada, UK, Germany and Australia. Parents have more responsibility towards their daughters in order to make them self-sufficient, bold and successful in their lives so that they will no longer be under constant pressure of another’s support towards day-to-day life activities. On such occasions (women international day) at least we ourselves should take an oath to respect, appreciate and encourage women in any of their role.
